Papa Wala‘au Hawai‘i, a conversational Hawaiian language class taught by Kumu Kawika Makanani.Knowledge of ‘ōlelo makuahine is crucial to understanding our kūpuna heritage and also allows us to appreciate contemporary Hawaiian culture. Kumu Kawika Makanani holds a BA in Hawaiian Studies (UH Mānoa). Although his 40-year career as a Hawaiian Studies educator was conducted mainly in English, ’ōlelo Hawai‘i was always intertwined in his non-‘ōlelo curriculum.
Course materials will be handed out at the first session. Seating is limited to 20 haumāna so contact Nā Kūpuna Makamae Center now.
