Course: Lauhala - Traditional Hawaiian Weaving

Taught by: Stacie Segovia

Dates: Every Wednesday except holidays

Time: 9 am-11:30 am

Where: Nā Kūpuna Makamae Center

Cost: $10/per class (+ any additional supplies cost paid directly to the teacher and payment is required to join the class)

Learn the art of traditional Hawaiian weaving with dried luahala strips from the Hala trees to make bracelets, mats, purses and more! All students work on their projects at their own pace and there will be a series of steps in projects to follow from the teacher.

Next month’s registration is updated at the end of each month.

Please try to register by Sunday at the latest so that the kumu (teacher) has time to prepare the materials for you. We cannot guarantee available supplies otherwise.

**New Format for Wednesday Classes

1st Wednesday - Focus on Bracelet (New students can join only during the first week of the month, and each student is allowed only one bracelet — no exceptions.)

2nd Wednesday - Focus on ‘Oeno mats

3rd Wednesday - Focus on ‘Omole wai

4th & 5th Wednesday - Focus on Oval Mat / Papale

**There may be time for Kumu to work with people on other projects, but priority will be given to those working on focus items for that week.

No class on 3/26/25 due to Prince Kuhio day. Class will resume on 4/2/25.

No class on 4/23/25. Class will resume on 4/30/25.
